like an arranged marriage with your ugly cousin, we are practically forced to take part in the oil economy by being made to drive places we otherwise would never go. although i believe things will change eventually, i am going to enjoy the ride and document it with my camera. don't try this at home
Very often while driving I see settings throughout the city and think, "That would be a nice picture." It then occurred to me that I could actually take pictures of the things I see. What started out as something to pass time while waiting for fares as a taxi driver has become a little bit more.
What will come of this? I have a few ideas; for now, enjoy Cleveland through my eyes.

Tremont at Night - St. Theodosius
I noticed last Wednesday St. Theodosius is the latest church near a freeway to be lit up at night. Incredible job. One of the best light up jobs yet. It would be really cool to have an image of the cityscape at night with all of the churches that are lit up and have the rest of the city darkened.
Here are shots from my drive last Wednesday night after the Cleveland Colectivo meeting.

Boardman, Ohio
One of my classes is conducting a charrette in the city of Boardman, Ohio. It is a suburb of Youngstown.
Here are some shots I took while driving through parts of the city.
The commercial part of the city literally has almost no sidewalks. It is very un-pedestrian friendly.
This intersection was one of the only parts of the city where there are sidewalks and the buildings are close to the street edge.
Good place for a multi-purpose trail.
There are no design standards either. Signs are all over the place and there is no control of how they look or are placed.

Views of Stonebridge 5 on a July Morning
Stonebridge Phase 5 is moving along - slowly but surely.
I am very anxious to see how the finished project will look.
I am equally anxious to see renderings of Bob Corna's nex phase along Center Street.
From the Powerhose parking lot.
From Center Street
A preview of the skin.
From across the river
More building skin shots . The building looks much smaller from this angle.

The Fulton Road Bridge
By this time next year, a large portion of the Fulton Road Bridge located in Old Brooklyn above the Cleveland Zoo will have been demolished for replacement.
If you are ot aware of this or would like more info, go to the official site for information. It hasn't been update since last November, but there is still some good information available.
I took a ride around the structure to gather some shots for preservation.

VFTD - Steelyard Commons Post
After my son and I spent sone time at the Veteran's Memorial Bridge/Subway tour, I decided to get up close and personal with Steelyard Commons.
However, there were a few security guards patrolling the grounds, so I decided to stick with this concept.
You know, they have a link to a streaming webcam on their website, but you need a password to access it.
I wrote them asking if/when they would open it up to the public and was told that it was for tenants only - they can watch their building go up in the safety of their own cube.
Oh well, you will just have to look at these - and as always, all of the pictures used for this blog are located here.
As you can see here, most of the street lighting is in place.
Good view of the Jennings Road Extension (is this the real name? not sure) with curbs and streetlights in place.
More curbs and lights.
The eastern edge of the property where Quigley, Jennings and the Tow Path will meet.
This is taken from the area where the new traffic circle will be.
Further east on Quigley
